New Mexico is a land steeped in history, legend and human drama. The stories passed down from generation to generation, and the people who lived those stories, are the topic Pláticas, which presents the real stories of the pioneers who established southern New Mexico. Each episode of Pláticas introduces a different story, told through interviews, pictures and, where possible, archival film footage. Included are interviews with historians, scholars and founding families, along with community leaders and descendents of lawmen, pioneers, war veterans and more. Originally created in celebration of New Mexico’s Centennial, in 2012, the production of Pláticas continues as more stories come to light, expanding out beyond the Mesilla Valley to eventually encompass all of southern New Mexico and parts of west Texas.
